Ethica provide a variety of services: consultancy including change management, organisational reviews, policy writing, and facilitated awaydays, and training, including courses, action learning sets, coaching and mentoring.

Consultancy projects conducted alone, or with other consulting agencies ROCC and SCA Solutions, include: ... young offenders.

Hampshire Probation Service. An analysis of ex-offenders' housing and support needs in Southampton, Portsmouth, Basingstoke and the surrounding areas was conducted as there was a perception that current needs were not being met and that Supporting People money could be used to fund a new scheme in the form of Transitional Housing Benefit. By facilitating the set-up of a floating support service through liaison with two voluntary sector providers and the Probation Service, ex-offenders were enabled to move into accommodation, develop resettlement skills, and greatly reduce the risk of re-offending. Holding a conference to present the research findings and current best practice of the agencies involved, the scheme was then publicised to local housing providers.

CRISIS are a national charity providing support services to homeless and similarly disadvantaged groups. Their Fareshare schemes redistribute surplus food from supermarkets to agencies providing free or heavily subsidised meals to those in need. The Southampton scheme operating under the management of the McDermott Trust wanted an option appraisal carried out with a view to expanding geographically. A detailed appraisal was completed considering a number of different operational models of distribution to enable CRISIS and the McDermott Trust to select a business strategy that would be cost-effective and help them service the greatest number of people in need.

Portsmouth Asylum Seekers and Refugee Drop-In. This group of volunteers (led by a paid worker) offer support and advice to asylum seekers and refugees in the Portsmouth area. Increasingly busy and recruiting a large number of new volunteers, they wanted to ensure that a consistently high standard of service was maintained without looking to criticise their dedicated volunteers. With Ethica facilitating a discussion day, the volunteers were able to decide their own explicit and measurable quality standards of practice and service delivery.

Southampton Care Association - Solutions is the consulting arm of Southampton Care Association, providing domiciliary care services in the Southampton area. The network of independent consultants was growing and an increasing number of tenders were being made for jobs nationally. Helen authored a set of values and internal and external standards in consultation with the team and Chief Executive. This allowed them to ensure consistency of standards across the consultants group, whilst ensuring clear accountability in advertising the service to potential clients.

Southampton Drug Action Team. An annual audit is needed to inform the Department of Health of the national picture of drug misuse and treatment. Interviews were conducted and data was collected/collated in order to complete the requirements of the audit for the Southampton area. A conference allowing all facilitators to contribute to the strategy for the following year in the Southampton area was then conducted to finalise the action plan.

Wessex Health Authority. 25 consultants and paediatricians had requested training in Stress, Time and Conflict Management. Ethica devised a package that facilitated their personal growth in these areas, combining groupwork, one-to-one discussion and simple exercises in order for them to enjoy themselves and learn from one another. The participants were highly satisfied with the course content and direction.

Wessex Youth Offending Team. A picture was needed of the housing and support needs of young offenders in the Wessex area, as there was concern over the rates of re-offending and the high number of young people in institutional care. By holding group discussions with Youth Offending Teams and one-to-one confidential interviews with young offenders, evidence was provided to inform a strategy of housing and support for young offenders.
